The Florida Prepaid College Board
The Florida Prepaid College Board manages the Florida Prepaid College Plan and the
Florida 529 Savings Plan. Both are tax-free 529 college savings plans authorized
by Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Florida Prepaid College Plan was introduced in 1988 and is the largest prepaid
college plan in the country. Families have purchased more than 1.4 million Florida
Prepaid College Plans since the inception of the program. Building on its experience,
the Florida Prepaid College Board introduced the Florida 529 Savings Plan
in 2002 to give families another way to save for college. The Florida Prepaid College
Plan and the Florida 529 Savings Plan offer the flexibility and options to
help reach college savings goals.
