Online interactive guide helps families choose which plan is right for them

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Dec. 5, 2013—The Florida Prepaid College Board has announced the latest addition to its recently redesigned website — a personalized Interactive Conversation feature that will help educate families about college savings. Florida is the first college savings program in the nation to utilize this innovative and interactive technology, created by The Jellyvision Lab, Inc, to educate parents, grandparents, family and friends about college savings and the specific plans available.

“Selecting the right college savings plan is an important decision that will vary from family to family. With the launch of our new MyFloridaPrepaid.com website, we wanted to ensure families had all the tools they needed to navigate through the process,” said Kevin Thompson, Executive Director of the Florida Prepaid College Board. “Whether families have already looked through the site and still need guidance or are just getting started, the Interactive Conversation will help them learn more about the Florida 529 Savings Plan and Florida Prepaid College Plans in a way that is most relevant and meaningful to them.”

The interactive feature takes what some may see as intimidating subject matter and transforms it into a friendly conversation. By replacing jargon and breaking down complex ideas with applicable comparisons and visually appealing graphics, the site offers a more engaging learning experience.

In just a few minutes, “Michael,” the site’s interactive host, guides visitors through the decision process, putting into perspective the importance of saving, how it can be manageable and finally, helping narrow choices, providing personalized feedback based on individual needs. His daughter, “Alice,” joins him throughout the conversation adding a light-hearted, sentimental touch to the experience.

With Open Enrollment happening now through Feb. 28, 2014, the Board encourages families to utilize this Interactive Conversation to help them select the best college savings plan for them.
