Next Open Enrollment dates announced!
Florida Prepaid has some news: The next Florida Prepaid College Plan Open Enrollment period will be from February 1 – April 30.
Of course, you don’t actually have to wait for Open Enrollment to enroll in one of our popular Florida Prepaid College Plans, which are guaranteed by the state of Florida. If you start a Prepaid Plan now, your enrollment process will be complete and you can check that off your to-do list. After February 1st, you will receive notification of the new Plan pricing for 2019. It’s that easy!
Why new Open Enrollment dates? For starters, Open Enrollment no longer coincides with the winter holiday season, a time that is often chaotic — and particularly expensive! So now, you’ll have time to recover financially from the holidays and turn your mind toward your new goals for the family budget. (Fun fact: Research shows parents think about college savings and finances in the spring more than any other time of year.)
A Florida Prepaid College Plan allows families to lock in college plan prices and prepay, on a monthly or lump-sum basis, the future cost of college tuition, fees and, optionally, dormitory housing.
Another budget-friendly reason for this shift is that it makes it easier to do what financial experts so often recommend: Allocate windfalls of cash toward college savings. Two convenient chunks of change that typically roll into our bank accounts during this season are pay raises or bonuses, and tax refunds. We say, take advantage!
In short, it’s never a bad time to purchase a Florida Prepaid College Plan. We just hope that, now, it’s going to be that much easier!
