In the 60 years since it opened, Tallahassee State College has demonstrated a commitment to providing traditional and nontraditional students with high-quality postsecondary education.

Serving students at seven locations across Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties, TSC is known for being affordable — roughly half the price of a state university — and 70% of its students graduate debt-free.

This capital city school has been recognized as the No. 1 institution in the Best Value College in Florida 2026 and No. 2 in the United States by Research.com, a leading university ranking platform. TSC was also named a Top 2025 Great College to Work For and recognized nationally for professional development by the Florida Chamber of Commerce. In 2021, Intelligent.com named TSC No. 1 in the nation for associate degrees, a designation based on graduation rates, curriculum quality and post-graduate employment.

TSC also has a student-to-faculty ratio of 25:1 and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs, including four bachelor degrees — business administration, elementary education, exceptional education and nursing.

Although a popular transfer feeder into Florida State University and Florida A&M University, TSC also stands out as a school that consistently responds to Florida’s workforce needs. It offers a variety of highly technical workforce training, including an Associate of Applied Cybersecurity and an Artificial Intelligence Practitioner Certificate. Those interested in health care careers can explore the fields of nursing and emergency medical services at TSC’s Ghazvini Center for Health Education; students pursuing law enforcement, corrections and firefighting receive training at TSC’s Florida Public Safety Institute in Havana.

Here are three new initiatives ensuring that TSC students are prepared to enter the workplace of the future:

  1. Accelerated Pathway to Aviation. In partnership with Sterling Flight Training, TSC will launch a Professional Aeronautics Certification program in fall 2026 for students pursuing careers as professional pilots. Developed in response to the country’s aging aviation workforce and national pilot shortage, the PAC will help students move from zero flight experience to commercial pilot readiness in 12 to 16 months. Students will receive classroom instruction at TSC and flight instruction at Sterling Flight Training at Bobby Bowden International Airport. In a cohort-based model, students will progress together through classroom learning, simulator training, one-on-one flight instruction and aircraft-based flight time. The PAC, which is designed to increase access to aviation careers, focuses directly on FAA certifications required for employment as a professional pilot.
  1. Expansion of Bachelor’s Degree Offerings. TSC is adding two bachelor’s degrees that were crafted to meet growing workforce needs in the Tallahassee area and across the state. The new Bachelor of Applied Science in Auditing and Compliance Management will prepare students for careers in auditing, regulatory compliance and risk management with a strong focus on the needs of government and public-sector organizations. The new Bachelor of Applied Science in Management Analytics will equip students to make smarter, data-driven decisions for careers across numerous industries, including health care, government, finance and technology. TSC is accepting applications for both programs, which are scheduled to start in the fall.
  1. Innovation Hub. The opening of this state-of-the-art learning environment on the first floor of the TSC Library is a win for the entire campus. The $3.6 million facility was designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the modern workplace, combining emerging technology with interdisciplinary collaboration. The Innovation Hub features five specialized learning spaces that cover augmented and virtual reality, supply chain technology, cloud computing, computer programming and engineering technology and semiconductor productivity. The hub is also expected to help introduce dual enrollment high school students to the in-demand fields of applied artificial intelligence and supply chain management.

Bottom line: TSC, home of the eagles, has distinguished itself as a campus where students can achieve personal and professional success by connecting early to strong and in-demand career pathways. As Florida’s economy continues to evolve and emerging technologies bring new skills to the forefront, TSC is taking steps to ensure that its students continue to be workforce ready.
