What is a Prepaid Dormitory 529 Plan?
A Dorm Plan is a safe, smart investment that allows you to easily prepare for university dormitory housing costs. Purchase in 1-year increments (2 semesters).
Just like all Prepaid Plans, your Dorm Plan is guaranteed by the State of Florida, so you can never lose your investment.
What does a Dorm Plan cover?
It covers the cost of a standard, double-occupancy dormitory room at any of Florida’s 12 State Universities or the value of the plan may be applied to dormitory housing nationwide.

How do you use a Dorm Plan?
Using your Dorm Plan is easy! Florida Prepaid will pay the college directly for the dormitory housing covered by the plan.
The value of your plan may also be applied to dormitory housing nationwide, or to other approved university-held housing, which can even include sorority and fraternity housing.

What if my child wants to live at home, attend college online or live in an apartment off campus?
No problem! You can cancel your plan anytime for a full refund or transfer it to another family member.
Who is eligible to purchase a Dorm Plan?
You may purchase a Dorm Plan for children ages newborn – 11th grade; Open Enrollment is February 1 – April 30.
Do I need to be a Florida resident?
Anyone can purchase a Dorm Plan (parent, grandparent, etc.). However, the student must be a Florida resident when the plan is purchased. Proof of residency is required during enrollment.
What if the university offers eligible housing but does not have space available?
You may request an Unavailable Dormitory Refund and receive the value that would have been paid to the university for dormitory that semester, so you can use the funds elsewhere.
